Remember Virginia Tech? What do you think about this?
Remember Virgina Tech? Remember the 2 hr window inbetween when the gunman killed the two students in the dorm and the 30 people in the classrooms… could that 30 people massacre have been prevented?
Parents want the school officials held accountable for not taking action to protect students after they found the murder scene in the dormitory….
Do you think they’re right? Are the school officials partly responsible for the loss of those 30 lives? What do you think? Here’s the link that inspired my question:

V. Tech Killing. Question about media?
Question: Does anyone think that the news media went out of its boundaries in informing the public about the V. Tech killings. By boundaries I mean that the role of the news media is only to give us news, entertain us a little, and have us informed of events around the nation / world.
I ask this because the V. Tech killing is actually local news (it did not affect us at a national level in any way). The only way it has affected us in a national level is because the news media has continuously been informing us about it (all over the country), and for the reason that this is the worst massacre in US history (but the news don’t focus on this point, they focus on Cho). I feel that the news media has gone beyond the point of informing us of news, this issue has turned more of an entertainment for people (without them realizing it), rather then news. Hell, if the news media can sell more paper by entertainment people of a mad man, then they will, it does not matter if it is ethical or not.
Cho’s pictures were all over the paper today, the daily news paper that I picked up has half the paper covered with stories just about this event. He is nothing less than a celebrity!!!! (but people will very soon forget about him). Everyone wants to see his videos, his pictures, read his stories, but WHY??? Because this is like a really good movie, come to life, a real entertainment!! So I ask, would you say it’s wrong for the media to turn a real life story into entertainment, and therefore a joke of all the people who died, just to sell more news and make profit or fame? Or do you think the media has not gone too far?

Hey guys, what are your thoughts on the Virginia Tech massacre?
It’s all I see in the news. It’s so gut-wrenching, so sickening almost to the point where it makes me wanna vomit. I think I am starting to suffer physical symptoms from it. I find myself awake at night trying to make sense of the inconcievable, the atrocity. I felt such symptoms too during 9/11, and I don’t think I will ever completely heal from something so horrible. I’m not really here to ask a question, I guess I just want to share my thoughts on this and see what you guys out there are feeling. Maybe through communication and understanding we can all eventually heal…..my prayers go out to the victims and their families…..it’s almost too much to bare. What do most of you feel for the gunman? Hate? or Puzzlement? or both?

Does anyone know the phone tap Virgina Tech number?
My friends at school showed me and I heard a girl got shot. They said that the news tapped the phone and insisted that people called to see how horriffic the shooting was.

Is anyone else really irritated at how the media’s handling the incident at Virginia Tech?
I’m sure it falls under freedom of the press, but it really bothers me that the videos the shooter made became public access. I know I don’t have to look at them, but the fact that they were made available is unsettling. I also can’t believe that amount of speculation that’s been done by the media (CNN, MSNBC, Fox). It seems like nothing’s sacred anymore. Let those who suffered have some time to grieve isn’t something the news media seems to understand. I just wondered what everyone else thought about how things are being handled. (There’s definitely some good, informative reporting, I just think there’s so much being handled incorrectly that it’s pathetic and embarrassing.)

Do you believe that the tragedy at Virginia Tech could have been avoided if?
Do you believe that the tragedy at Virginia Tech could have been avoided if Cho’s professors had done more than just refer him to on campus counseling? Based on two short plays he had written which the media has gotten a hold of, it seems obvious that he was seriously emotionally disturbed.

I’m not saying that he should have been thrown out of school, or anything like that, I just believe that there should have been some sort of follow up done on the teachers recommendations for counseling.
Yo it’s me*** I agree with what you say, except for the part about him still being able to purchase a gun if he had been forced into treatment. In Virginia, once someone has been forcibly committed, they can no longer legally purchase a gun. However, he still could have gotten it illegally.
The Oracle*** I understand what you are saying, and maybe I should have clarified my reasoning sooner. These professors were also able to interact with this student on a weekly basis. They were able to observe his personality and character along with his writings. I am not trying to blame anyone, I just can’t help but wonder if this could have been prevented had someone taken more than a passing interest in this particular student.

why was that nutsack at virginia tech allowed to stay in this country?
i heard on the news that he was here on a visa. it had been established years before this incident that he had violent, psychopathic tendencies. so i’d like to know why he wasn’t shipped out on the first boat back to wherever it is he originally came from. has anyone else heard about his being here on a visa? and don’t we have enough to deal with with the headcases who are actually born here without taking on international whackos?
apparently my information about his being here on a visa was wrong. i can’t remember where i heard that, but i thought it was on the news. guess not, though. i don’t exactly see how this makes me stupid, though. i was going by what i had heard. as for the twit who asked if i’d be saying the same things about the shooter if he was a white kid with roots going back four generations, the obvious answer is no, you simple nit. i thought he was here on a visa. why would a kid who’s great grandparents were born here be on a visa? and i’m the stupid one?
i fail to see what i have in common with tim mc veigh, charles manson, the son of sam and the green river killer, other than being white. i didn’t grow up hating anyone, asian or otherwise. i was under the impression that this guy was here on a visa, and wondered why he was allowed to stay in the country after proving himself to be a danger {which i have since learned was incorrect–he was a permanent resident}. where do you get that i hate asians because i can see that this particular asian was an @sshole? it is not the responsibility of all of us to try and fix whackos like this kid. you are the one who sounds hateful. not to mention retarded. why is it that every time a white person says something about a non-white person, the white person is made out to be a racist? when did i say anything negative about asians? stop trying to make a race issue where none exists. my question was an immigration issue, not a race issue.
