What does the Virginia Tech shooting have to do with a decadent America?
news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070416/ap_on_re_us/virginia_tech_shooting
To which extent do America’s values (the 2nd Amendment, religion) need to be rethought?
I am outraged by the extent that media-fueled hatred has permeated into people’s lives.
I hope this lesson won’t be left unheeded.

who is getting tired of seeing the shooting at virginia tech?
i dont mean to sound mean because actually when the news media keeps showing this footage the families of the kid and the victims hav e to keep seeing the footage everyday.Shouldnt they atleast back off for a few weeks to let the friends and family mourn there loses.just like when 911 happen they never gave the family of the victims then to murn because it was on for 2 months after it happen.
yes maybe they should have showed the clips once or twice to give people a glimpse into what the kid was going through at the time but then they should have respectfully droped it for awhile.i mean when 911 happen didnt you just think they showed too much then.does the m3edia not have anyother stories other than virgina tec or trhe war.i mean cant there be other things wrong over here to focus on.
do you not care that the family and friends of these kids are getting hurt over and over again by having to see this on just about every channel they turn on.for example if say your father or mother died by being killed in someway would you want to see it on tv everyday or would you want it to go away so you can try to make sense of it/its the same thing.

what do you think about the Virginia Tech shooting?
I am at VSDB only miles away from VT, and it is all over the news. I am talking to all the staff and getting there opions, they all say it is the baddest thing they have had happen mear them. And it is four times as bad for the families. The news is on talking about it. What are the stories that you got about it? If the is a inter net site send me a link.
My teacher got the news on the internet on the computer and played it for us. And they that it could have been a Asian man about 22 to 18 to 30. And why do YOU think that there was not a bigger response to a problem that even thou could not be stopped could be prevented to some point.
I’m don’t give a hoot about spelling they don’t give spell check for the details
the point of asking is to get more people’s points of views
now in a way I’m not suprised. if you play war games and see the movies you wander about the cawerds that do this stuff, what would stop someone from comeing in aned just popping off shots on people. it is sad but we should try to look at even this in a good way. say hurricane katrina; for example. people want on and on about bush did not do anything, and yes there were leat to do anything but look at how the families came together and had people in there home that they did not know! thats the power of helping someone in need. so in this there is sadness but if there is forgivness then there will be a better outcome.
and we all know where he is.

Why are we interviewing the families of Virginia Tech kids but ignoring soldiers killed and wounded in Iraq?
I don’t want in any way to belittle the loss of the families of the VT students and professors killed by Cho. But CNN and Today and all the news shows can’t do enough interviews with the families of these kids, while the kids the same age being killed in Iraq are mere footnotes.
And Iraq was avoidable.

Why does the Virginia Tech massacre eclipse the carnage in Iraq?
No one with a grain of empathy or decency would argue that the VT murders were senseless tragedies. Since the onset of this mass murder, all newspapers, TV news programs and radio talk shows have devoted virtually every minute analyzing and exploring every detail of this terrible event. 32 students were brutally murdered and the country is gripped by a wave of tears and bitter outrage.
Three days ago, 165 people were killed in Iraq. Few people blinked. In the last month, 30 troops were murdered. No one even noticed. These events were buried somewhere on page 10 of the newspapers, and few TV or radio programs even bothered to report these deaths.
With all due respect to the families of the VT victims, why are the lives of these students so much more valuable and deserving of our grief than the lives of our troops and Iraqi civilians? Have we become so unaffected and desensitized by the victims of the Iraqi war that we barely acknowledge their deaths? It seems as if we have dehumanized the fallen soldiers and Iraqi citizens to the point that we’re barely fazed by their deaths.
While the media scrutinizes every aspect of the VT massacre and honors each murdered student with biographies and eulogies, we quietly ignore the continuous blood flowing in Iraq. Our troops are forgotten heroes. Shame on America.

Did violent rhetoric from MoveOn.Org lead to the Virginia Tech shooting?
On April 16, 2007, the campus of Virginia Tech was stained with the blood of 32 people killed and 20 injured in the deadliest shooting in U.S. history. The victims were shot by Virginia Tech student Seung Hui Cho. Cho then turned the gun on himself.

Do you think it’s a bad idea for NBC to be broadcasting the tapes the Virginia Tech killer made and sent out?
I think it’s a terrible idea. Officials in the Columbine tragedy sealed records in hopes of preventing copycat killers. Glorifying Cho (and giving him what he wants by broadcasting these tapes) might unfortunately encourage copycats.
Furthermore, I personally can’t stomach any more gruesome details in this case. And I certainly can’t watch the news now because they’re playing these tapes that the killer made. I’m having nightmares about this tragedy and I wasn’t even there!
