How do I break the news to the Jehovahs?

January 27, 2012 · Filed Under Tech News

I met 2 Jehovahs, and I talked to them for a while, because I was interested in their religion, but I’m catholic, and am planning on staying catholic. But theyre over every other day, and I like talking to them, since they are nicer than the jerks at my tech school. And I still want to talk to them, and know about other religions, just dont want to convert. One of them is a good friend of my uncle.

Try converting them to Catholicism – they will get the message

You say I like you and I enjoy talking to you but I am not interested in converting.

    Love and blessings Don

Go to Chick Publications web, there you can read “Answers for our JW Friends”

Well, if you like them, you don’t have to talk about religion. My friend is a Lutheran and for some reason his mom hates Catholics, so we just don’t talk about it.

You cant just try converting them, they are as set in their faith and their ways as you are, so its going to be hard to convert them …
I dont see why you cant talk to them just because they have a different religion, they are still people.
Carry on talking to them, and being friendly with them, there is nothing wrong with that …
You can be open minded but also be strong in your faith, just remember that you are merely learning about their religion, you dont have to convert, and vice versa.

They don’t care about you at all, only your conversion. If one is a good friend of your uncle, I assume that your uncle is a J.W. also. If he is not, the J.W. that is his good friend can get in trouble if the cult headquarters in New York City find out. Anyone who doesn’t convert after a short span of time is to be shunned by the J.W.s. This includes FAMILY members, even PARENTS. I know this from first hand experience.

Keep talking to them… keep studying with them. Ask them questions about the Bible. Maybe you will one day become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Be honest. Tell them you enjoy talking to them but are secure in your religion.

How do I break the news to you? Jehovah’s Witnesses are well trained in the art of gradually breaking down Roman Catholic arguments and for as long as you are in discussion with them, you are at grave risk of ending up converting to the JWs. What they do is home in on RC biblical illiteracy, then combine that with showing up what RC doctrines & practices are not biblical (and there are more than a few, believe me.) If you don’t want to be converted by them, withdraw from personal contact and just keep your exchanges written – by letter, or e-mail. This is because they are ace at changing the subject when someone gets them on to tricky ground. By only having written exchanges, you can control the subject and keep bringing it back to the point.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are very nice people (I know, I used to be one) and there is no reason why you cannot continue to be friends with them. Just be aware that they are impervious to subtle hints like “I don’t want to convert to your religion”. They are duty bound to try to convert you!

If you take a stand for your Catholic faith and defend the doctrines you hold dear (like the immortality of the soul, the Trinity, hell as a place of eternal torment, and having a heavenly hope), you may find that your JW friends will leave you alone. But be aware that their arguments against those doctrines are very plausible and you would need to be very familiar with your Bible and theology before taking them on.

You don have to change for anybody no matter what, if they are your friends they will understand. And People are always gonna be rude n nasty at school and in work, just don’t show to them it bothers you, and in the long run they will fell and look stupid ;)

just tell them you aren’t interested in converting but would like to continue to talk with them and learn more about their religion. there isn’t anything wrong with that. chances are, they will continue to visit as you are still interested. don’t worry about it – you aren’t doing anything wrong and they are probably happy to not have a door shut in their face.
