What does the Virginia Tech shooting have to do with a decadent America?

To which extent do America’s values (the 2nd Amendment, religion) need to be rethought?

I am outraged by the extent that media-fueled hatred has permeated into people’s lives.

I hope this lesson won’t be left unheeded.

We don’t know the details. The killer could have been off his Lithium, in which case the cliche of cultural decline need not be rolled out again.

Listen, I agree that the 2nd Amendment has been abused in this country, but the problem here isn’t the gun it’s the person using it. It’s actually easier to get the chemicals and components for an improvised explosive device than it is to get a gun.

The second mendment really has nothing to do with this.

    Guns don’t kill people,
    People kill people.
And sorry but the rest of the america should have learned what people are capable of after tghe Colorado Columbine shooting.

The only conclusion that we can draw right now with any degree of accuracy is that someone for reasons known only to himself decided to open fire on innocent bystanders. The reality of why he did what he did is known only to God at this point. Any speculation on the relationship between his actions and the state of this country is just that — speculation.

May our Father in Heaven comfort those who are mourning the loss of these wonderful young people.

    It’s been said many times….
Making owning firearms illegal only takes weapons away from law abiding individuals. It does absolutely nothing to remove the weapons from the criminals.

That all being said we don’t know anything of the prior history of the individual responsible for this massacre…was he insane?… who knows? We no nothing about the type of gun/rifle used. We don’t know much of anything other than people are dead and injured.

How many gun related deaths are from legal owners and how many are from criminals?

People are soo quick in pointing the fingers at Muslims when they do crazy things and they are quick at blaming their religion..who do you blame now??? The religion obviously had nothing to do with this as in all other cases and yet Islam gets blamed for it all…The gun laws of this country? the parents who didn’t spank this person enough when he was a kid? This person who had issues and instead of seeking help, he chose to take it out on other people? Innocent people were killed…

Religion doesn’t kill people, People do.

What I’m concerned with, is how this can be tied to Pres. Bush. I think they’re going to use the NRA route. What do you all think? NRA donates to Bush, so Bush is for killing students, or how about just using the Katrina diatribe, and actually say Bush called for the attack? Which Demon crat will make the attack in their presidential campaign first, Hilliary or Obama?

Personally I think they should get Michael Moore involved and Dan Rather. Between Moore’s connections in Hollywood and Rather’s connections in the media they could actually have video of Bush shooting the students.

No, the Second Amendment doesn’t have to be rethought. If anything, people need to be able to protect themselves. The last thing we want to do is to give the politicians a monopoly on the use of force.

You are correct about the media-fueled hatred. That is what the media does. It created hatred and divisiveness for their masters, the politicians.

We don’t know what caused this maniac to commit this crime, but the decadence created by the media, the courts and our politicians may well have played into it.

if top ten universities would stop accepting crack heads into thier 4 year degree programs b/c they get reimbursed by state tax payers money then maybe this wont happen again.

It makes me ill! That people would be so selfish as to take other peoples lives! God gave us life, its not for humans to take away! I feel sorry for the students, God bless them all!

and I think also that they shouldn’t let just anyone onto a campus! its bull!

Honestly, I think it comes down to the parenting. Kids should be taught how to deal with stress and influences of all kinds including the media.

People can say gun controls will help, or a higher degree of media censorship, better security at schools, etc, etc. But what good are these when the person is capable of murder?

So many people are quick to try and eliminate the physical things involved rather than attacking the root of the issue. These measures are only duck tape solutions that may provide temporary relief, and usually end in an even bigger disaster. Similar things have been attempted with the abortion issue, it is simply not successful.

  16. Ticknax on January 27th, 2012 5:53 am

The result of a culture where life is no longer respected. Abortions are legal everywhere. Religion has been thrown out of schools. Kids are been taught that they are nothing more than animals. Sex, immorality and violence is glorified in movies and all over the culture.
